Our 7 Favorite Photos From Kayaking Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Kayaking along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is an amazing thing to experience. The sandstone cliffs are as tall as 200 feet high and being in a kayak at the base of the cliffs is a one of a kind adventure. To kayak a 5 mile stretch of Pictured Rocks we went out with Pictured Rocks Kayaking, who offer a variety of kayaking tours along Pictured Rocks and Grand Island and they are located in Munising, Michigan.
We decided to go with the Ultimate Kayak Tour. As with all tours with Pictured Rocks Kayaking, they begin with a boat ride out to the launch point. The boat ride is about 30 minutes long and is full of amazing scenery along the way. Pictured Rocks Kayaking has customized boats for launching the kayaks into Lake Superior at the starting point.
A few things to point out. The PRK boat stays close by during the tour so if you need to return to the boat, you can. This tour is about 4-5 hours long which includes the time on the boat and paddling. Before heading out, the tour guides provide a basic safety and paddling course. Guests of the tour are in tandem kayaks for the tour. The Pictured Rocks Kayaking website has an entire FAQ section here that is very helpful.
Now, lets get to it. Here are our 7 favorite photos from our tour with Pictured Rocks Kayaking. While these photos can't replace experiencing this for yourself, we hope you enjoy them!
