The Soo Locks Are Open For The Season

This is a fun time of year in Sault Ste. Marie! The Soo Locks are now open for the season! Things got started with the Clyde S. VanEnkevort taking the honor of the first ship to pass through the Soo Locks to start the season. We were there to celebrate the opening of the locks and even were able to board the Clyde to celebrate and get a tour. 

Something unique about this "first ship" is that it is is actually a tugboat/barge combo. The tugboat is the Clyde S. VanEnkevort and the barge is the Erie Trader. After having a brief celebration outside we headed in to the galley and up into the pilot house. 

The opening of the Soo Locks took place with an epic sunrise. The viewing platform was filled with fans to celebrate the start of the season.
